It's so scary how easy things are becoming for Argentina. They started with an easy group and now their opponents in the second round and in the quarter finals are very easy. They might have some challenging semi final against Chile, France or Holland and that's it.
It sucks for Chile and Holland that they can't rest players after securing qualification. But it's good for the rest of us because both will have to play for the win, in order to avoid Brazil.
It's a big plus for Chile that Van Persie is serving suspension.

yet to see how the chips fall but there is a good chance it goes as you say. Still, so far Argentina has shown a great deal of vulnerability and against some of the worst teams at the WC nonetheless. Doesn't seem to take a great team to put them in serious difficulty unless they improve significantly asap.
There are teams that do get better as the tournament goes on but those are teams that already have the right ingredients (players) and just need time to put it all together ... teams that have untapped potential, so to speak. Argentina doesn't strike me as one of those teams as they seem to lack quality in defensive midfield and defense to match that talent up-front.
Also, I think Brazil will want to be second in the group, no matter the opponent next round.
If they win the group, they'll have Chile/Holland in the 1/8 round, then the winner of Colombia/Italy-Uruguay in the quarters. If they are 2nd, they get Holland/Chile in the round of 16 and the winner of Costa Rica-Ivory Coast/Greece in the quarters.

What happens if Germany beat the US 1:0 and Ghana beat Portugal 2:1?
USA will have 4 points (4:4), while Ghana will also have 4 points, with slightly different GD (5:5). I know goal difference comes before h2h, but do the scored goals also come ahead of h2h, since both USA and Ghana will have +0 goal difference?

If it happens, it's gonna be brutal to the USA, since they''ll find themselves eliminated by Ghana, despite having the same number of pts, the same goal difference (+0) and on top of it, they won the h2h.
5. The ranking of each team in each group shall be determined as follows:
a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches; c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their
rankings shall be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the
teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams
concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams
concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

It is laughable , but still the rules are the rules . I don't know if it's a coin throw , but it is decided by drawing lots . Maybe they will simply put 2 balls with the team names in a bowl and pick one to go through , no different than a coin throw really .
