Suarez got what he deserved which was the red card. Uruguay were much more dangerous than Ghana. If saurez had his shooting boots on Ghana would have lost easily.

If Uruguay had him today things would have been different. If the ref today was fair, then things would have been different. If holland wasn't so fucking lucky things would have been different.

fuck what he deserved. this rule should be changed. the ball is in the goal why should i play a penalty for it i think it will be fair to count that a goal and a big suspension for the player who plays it with his hand. this is football not handball for fuck sake.. a red card for one player and the team goes through with this way is something unfair.

I feel so hard done by Suarez action, but i have to agree with Aaron here Hoori. Suarez handled the ball, Ghana got a penalty, Suarez was sent off and subsequently banned for his teams next game. Ghana missed their penalty, and then fucked up in the shootout. Meaning they don't deserve to go through, Uruguay did.

Why are you explaining the rules to me? I know them but I think they have to be modified. The referee did all he had to do and Uruguay got the maximum of punishment but it's a flaw in the rules when you get a 100% (look: 100% and not even 99%) goal from a team and give them a 90% goal opportunity (a penalty kick). It can be easily changed and it must be changed I think. Suarez getting sent off was completely useless for Ghana as it was the 120th minute of the game so the ref basically disallowed a goal and changed it to a penalty kick and this is so wrong. I think we can have something like goaltending in football as well.

If you do that, then players will not defend the goal line because no one will want to be suspended. Look at Harry Kewell's red card, he couldn't have gotten out of the way of that shot if he wanted to. Should he face additional suspension time?

The only reason people are mad about the Ghana decision is because they missed the penalty.

Though I do agree that plays like Suarez should be looked at for additional suspension as well as acts of diving, hard fouls.

But counting any questionable goal line infraction as "in" will screw the game dramatically.

agree here i have a goal why u give me an opportunity for it?! to score while i scored and fuck the player suspension i don't give a shit.. imagine this happens in the finale (i can place about 3 players in the goal with this rule) and the suspension would be useless.

So you want to award Ghana a goal in that case? What if the shot was higher and looked like it could have hit the post? Would you still give them the goal? What if in another situation the handball wasn't deliberate?

aaah fuck the suspension. i am in the finale and 1-1 and am scored a goal in the last minute cause i pressed and am the better team and some fucker manged to fuck me up with this hand ball. why u give me a freakin' penalty and it's either 50% inside and 50% outside when it should been 100% onside.

well that is the gamble Suarez took and won! I said it at the time he did it that is was a gamble and i acknowledged that he knew what he was doing.

but having the chance of missing the ensuing penalty which happens (in accordance with the rules) is a kick in the stones. cud you have gone from a 100% certain goal to a probability, for the team awarded the penalty that is.

I know i haven't explained it properly, but u catch what i'm trying to say? I'm not goin to get in on the whole was it right was it wrong but i can see and agree with both sides of the argument.

That is two completely different things.

Put a ref behind the goal to watch in and out. Problem solved. Lampard scores, England's happy.

The second argument is for changing a rule for a 1 in a million situation. Maybe FIFA should rewrite the goal to say exactly this:

If in the case of an intentional handball in the penalty area, occurring near the goal line, at extra time of the 120th minute of a match, a penalty is not given. Instead the referee should signal "goal scored" for the shooting team and display a red card to the offending player.

Yes, they do. I'd say, call for the goal and let Suarez play the game. In Australia-Ghana game, Kewell handled the ball off the line. It was a goal. Call for the goal then and let Kewell continue playing.
