Italian refs

How can this dude make a blatant mistake on every match and still officiate here? They should have sent him home together with his NT.
Come on Alen, all the referees that made mistakes should be treated same way...

But on the other hand that would leave only 3-5 referees left and available, all others would be at their homes. :D

True. There were three or four dubious games in 2002 but in this World Cup, there are lots of bad calls in most of games many of which, as you said, have been match changers.
Now we'll never know what Mexico could have been capable of, because before that phantom goal they were all over Argentina, they were causing them a lot of problems.

What's the criteria for the refs/linesmen to get into this tournament, the most prestigious one out there? This offside call tonight and the one in England game earlier were not CLOSE calls. If a linesman, eligible to officiate in the World Cup, can't distinguish them, who can? And if that's the level of refereeing why are they so stubborn against using technology?

I hope Mexico start fouling the Argentinians left, right and centre while the refs don't even card them! It's only fair they do that considering the unbelievable decision on the first goal. Agree with everything said so far. The ref ruined the game.

They can't use technology only in big tournaments, football is from amateur level up to the football we are watching. Technology in big tournaments mean technology in all football and this is not affordable.

I love Heinze's expression after he accidentally head-butted the camera during the goal celebration.

Rosario mistake a la Andres Escobar :sergio:
Osario's was far worse than Andres'. Andres may have scored a direct goal with a deflection, but Osario showed zero awareness of his teammates while flubbing an ill-advised pass under any circumstance.

Why not letting the refs change their decisions if they see the replays in the stadium? Many sports are being officiated like that.
