That was one of the worst performances I've seen under Van Marwijk, but not completely unexpected. We had a team out that was changed in every position bar 2 or 3 from our usual 11. A lot of people trying to impress, being selfish, and so on.

It was a bunch of players running around rather clueless, rather than a team. I'm not worried.

Fabio Capello has said he feels uncomfortable at signing the England national anthem at the World Cup, and confirmed he will be keeping lips sealed when it's played.

"The anthem? I know the words to it, but I don't think it's right to sign an anthem which is not from my country, even though I get goose pimples when I hear it," he told Sky Sport 24.

Capello has said Wayne Rooney is the key to his chances of success, and he has told him what he expects in South Africa, while reminding the rest of the squad to maintain the effort.

"Rooney is an important player, but it's also important that the team is able to win," he added.

"He has not been scoring much recently, but he is recovering 100 per cent. He has great qualities to become a top goalscorer."

Julio Cesar lashes out at Jabulani

Inter goalkeeper and Brazil No 1 Julio Cesar has criticised the Jabulani ball, which will be used at this summer's World Cup.

The 30-year-old has spent the day getting used to it while training with the Brazil squad in Johannesburg.

“It's terrible, horrible,” he said. “It's like one of those balls you buy in the supermarket.”

Brazil's goalkeeping coach Wendell was explained the pitfalls of the Jabulani.

“The danger for goalkeepers is when they come off their line they need to stay in a safe place otherwise the ball will drop behind them (and into the goal).”

Julio Cesar isn't the first goalkeeper to complain about the official World Cup ball.

France No 1 Hugo Lloris called it 'catastrophic' during training this week and said that it wreaked havoc especially when playing at altitude.
