Godot has once again not shown up. It isn't Del Piero's fault, he did play a great game. But when he doesn't screw up himself, others will do it for him. It's like he, and more importantly Italy, can't win. They always make everyone believe they can, just to let it everything go in the end. How likely is that your playmaker is banned for spitting? How likely is it you get a goal against in the final minute of a final that was meant to be Italian? How likely is it you get 5 goals disallowed? How likely is it your best player decides to kick a penalty towards some goal in Pakistan rather than towards the goal that is standing right before him? Waiting for Godot REALLY SUCKS!

Italy are suffering from bad luck and extremely problematic mentality.
getting a lot of goals in the last minutes of a big match is not accidental. The Italian teams and coaches are sticking in the past. taking out the players who keep the ball and are dangerous to the other team like Cassano is very stupid, because then the other team keeps the ball and they are making their chances.
obviously they can't handle a lead

Well, as far as I know, Godot never shows up, the whole story is based on the endless wait. ;)

Will it be the same for Italian fans?

Godot never shows up. But isn't that what makes the Italians so great? They never win, but they always ought to. Talent that wins is nothing special really, but talent that loses, now that's something you want to see! So sit back and enjoy in what fantastic way Italy will let these championships slip!

yeah. Godot in the story is supposedly this guy who brings great things (am i right?) and then they wait for him and he never shows. It sorta says alot about life. You wait for good things to pour over you and it never happens.

Del Piero was called Godot by Agnelli in 2000 or 2001 or something I think. We had been waiting since 1998 for the Alessandro The Great to return but he never returned. So he's Godot.
