Mirko Vucinic has played a vital role in Juventus’ scintillating run of seven consecutive victories. After contributing to all four goals in last Sunday’s resounding 4-0 success over Roma, the frontman once again turned provider for Marco Borriello’s late strike at the Dino Manuzzi.
But despite his rich vein of form, the Montenegrin international refuses to rest on his laurels and instead remains fully focused on Sunday’s Piedmont derby.
Speaking exclusively to Sky, the 28-year-old said: “We’ve got four games ahead of us in order to win the war. They’re four difficult fixtures, starting with the clash in Novara. We’re three points ahead and we know that it all depends on us. We’ve become aware of our own abilities over the past few months and we know we’re strong and competitive.”
Yesterday saw Borriello thank Conte with a hug after scoring what proved to be a priceless winner. And Vucinic also moved to praise the manager’s positive impact on the Bianconeri.
“Conte has made me feel important, just as he does with the rest of the team. Since I began working with him, I’ve discovered that I’m also able to run my socks off. I sacrifice myself more, but I’m perfectly happy to do so for this wonderful group in which everyone works for their team-mates.”
The striker ended the interview by confirming his desire for silverware.
“If you don’t win, nobody remembers what you’ve done. I went close with Roma, I hope there’s a change in the final outcome this year.”
