If Juventus began the 2012/13 season with this prestigious win, it's thanks in no small part to Mirko Vucinic. The Montenegrin played a starring role as the Bianconeri defeated Napoli, coming off the bench at half time, winning the penalty that enabled Vidal to level the score at 2-2 and finally putting the game to bed as he netted the fourth goal.
So Vucinic was the man who turned the match? Mirko smiled in gratitude but was keen to point out the role of his team-mates: “One player doesn't change a game by himself. The whole team came up trumps once again. We fell behind twice against an excellent side but we got ourselves back in it by showing grit and determination. We've got the season off on the right foot. I want to dedicate this win to the Juventus fans and to my family. We're pleased for Conte of course but Carrera has done a great job too – he shouts just as much as the boss out there! Starting on the bench? With the possibility of extra time, he didn't want to take any risks. Napoli's decision not to take part in the award ceremony? People are free to do what they want but in Rome we stayed on the pitch and we clapped them.”
