What JJ said, and download Bitdefender internet security 2011.

    Check your PM.
Cheers for all your good advise and to everyone.

I'll get right on the case.

And I have a mac- as well- but the bugger messing around with the modem really got my goat.

The good news, Melo, is that it's probably not doing any more damage other than popping up in your face way too often.

An alternative to getting a virus/malware scrubber tool, which you may want to do anyway, is to use a backup/restore tool. For example, on something like Windows XP, etc., you can use the System Restore tool to run your system like it was before yesterday and that should rid you of the problem in a lot of cases. The trouble is if you installed something useful since then.

Yeah, porn will do that to you.

I had a PC that went nuts for me recently after I stupidly turned off my firewall for a while because it was sucking up too much memory. I came across something called ComboFix that surprisingly was the only thing I could find that did the job properly, and it's open source:

    But that's a PC, though.
What's porn? Some kind of abbreviation of pop-corn?

Is combofix a solution to my woes.

My infect comp is a pc- my mac is, as always, safe.

Don't be coy with me, bianconero. If you're getting this kind of virus on a Mac, you must be wading knee-deep in some helluva porn collection. Please do share.
