Vieri called up by Australia
Tuesday, 16 March 2004

Australian coach Frank Farina has called up Christian Vieri's younger brother Massimiliano, for the international friendly against South Africa.

Max Vieri is currently out on loan at Napoli from Juventus, but has not been a regular for the Serie B club.

Vieri holds dual nationality for both Australia and Italy, but was unlikely to force his way into Giovanni Trapattoni's thoughts.

Should Vieri impress in the game there is a chance he will be included in Farina's Olympic squad for the summer.

This would be a major boon for a player who has found himself out of favour for his club, where Davide Dionigi and Gianluca Savoldi have been the regular strike partnership.

How old is Max?

I don't think he's any good though otherwise we would have know a bit more about him.

Austrailia can have him.

Australia gets Vieri, Venezuela gets Margiotta both from serie B, hopefully Venezuela can hold on to the fifth spot to play against Australia for the WC spot

Why wud max want to risk being a substitute for the Australian national team?
Wudnt that hurt his chances of getting back to the Serie A?

:howler:

I did know Max Vieri is ours, but did not cross my mind he was Bobo's younger brother...

Oh well if you can't have Pippo's best friend in Juve, the younger brother would be just fine :D

Once a player is called for the senior team of any national team, he can't play for any other national team except them for the rest of his life.
