Inter have denied reports in this morning's press that striker Christian Vieri is on his way to Chelsea in a £22 million deal.

"There is no agreement with any club, there are not even any negotiations," said a club spokesman. "He is an Inter player and he will wear Inter's shirt next season as well."

Chelsea are, however, believed to be in the running for Mallorca's Samuel Eto'o.

Ok... so let me get this straight. The Independent writes something and it's reliable. But when a crappy paper like The Sun also writes it, The Independent is no longer reliable?

I don't get it. It doesn't make sense.
well you never know really. The Sun is by definition unreliable, I know that since I read it :D but I've never read the Independent. Its a broadsheet (ie not a tabloid) so should be pretty reliable. When they both have the same story well you're best off not believeing it IMO!

Vieri Won't join Chelsea, and Inter won't let their Best player (best striker in the world) go, may be they are losers but certainly they aren't dumb or stupid.Vieri will stay at Inter IMO.

I doubt Henry and RvN would be able to score 24 goals in 22 games in Serie A :D

Vieri is the best, but RvN is going to be better. Henry is third ;)

Vieri not joining Roman's Chelsea empire

Inter Milan have denied reports that their Italian international forward Christian Vieri is set to join big-spending Chelsea.

It had been widely reported that the Italy ace was next on the hit-list for the Blues' new billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.

The Stamford Bridge club on Wednesday took their summer spending spree to almost £60m with the capture of two midfielders, Juan Sebastian Veron from Manchester United for £15m and Joe Cole from West Ham for £6.6m.

A deal for Vieri in excess of £20m had been mooted, but Inter's sports director Marco Branca said: "Vieri is not on the market.

"We have not received any official offers for Vieri. He will definitely stay at Inter Milan.''

Players must have been signed by 11am on Thursday if they were to feature in the Champions League qualifying rounds, with Chelsea due to take on Slovakian outfit Zilina next week.

While the Blues have blown every other club out of the water with regards their summer spending spree, it has been argued that they still need to snap up a real big-hitter to compete with Manchester United and Arsenal.

Veron, Cole, Damien Duff, Geremi, Wayne Bridge and Glen Johnson are all quality acquisitions, but Chelsea still do not look to have a match-winner to rank alongside Ruud van Nistelrooy or Thierry Henry.

Any deal to bring the 30-year-old Vieri, who was Serie A's top scorer last season, to the Premiership would surely have changed all that however.

The former Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Lazio frontman has scored goals at the highest level wherever he has played, including in the Champions League.

he won't go anywhere... this is all a puppet show for the
Nerazzurri's, directed by the INTER board... :D :D

first they spread rumours that Zanetti is linked with JUVE.
Then the day after he signs for another 4 years and makes
a speech how he looooves INTER and that he wouldn't leave
the club for any reason...

Same thing with Vieri, soon we will be reading a very hearty
speech about how he loves the city, the club and all the Nerazzurri's

and then all the Nerazzurri's will feel like they are on cloud #9...
That they have such special team, no other team in the world has players so devoted to their club.....

pooor us!!!! :D

:howler: Nice spin you've got on this :thumb:
I would certainly not be surprised if this was true. Only a bonehead like Moratti or perhaps stupid old Sensi at Roma could do such a thing. They're indeed crazy enough...
