Viduka on verge of Boro deal

Leeds striker Mark Viduka is undergoing a medical at Middlesbrough's Rockcliffe Park training ground this afternoon with a view to finalising a deal.
Boro boss Steve McClaren has been looking to strengthen the club's firepower this summer and has made his move for the 28-year-old Australia international.

McClaren told Boro's website: 'I can confirm that Mark is at the club today.

'He will be taking a medical and we will be looking to finalise details of a deal to make him a Middlesbrough player within the next day or two.'

Viduka's departure from Leeds is widely expected this summer, with the financially-troubled club desperate to shed his £65,000-a-week wages.

The Australia international joined the Yorkshire club from Celtic in a £6million deal four years ago.

He scored 72 goals in 156 appearances for the Whites, including 13 in Leeds' last nine games to keep them in the Premier League at the end of the 2002-03 season.

However, he was sent off in two of Leeds' last five games in the season just gone as the club slipped into the Football League.

nah the Middlesbrough guy was that stupid
Not stupid, desperate. Boro have half a dozen strikers now, but they're all very average - Viduka would be a big signing for them.
