Following a six-goal haul and an impressive performance, the satisfaction in the Bianconeri camp is clear for all to see. Gianluca Pessotto, Marco Baroni, Giuseppe Ruggiero and Matteo Liviero expressed their delight to Juventus Channel after the Primavera’s first group encounter against Nordsjaelland.
Pessotto: “It was a positive opening to the competition. The lads did well to go in front and capitalise on the chances they had. We faced an older side and our team knew how to read the game well. It was important to get off to a good start, now we’ll recover our energies for the next game. Bouy? It was a good run out for him, just as it was for all his team-mates. We need to allow these lads to develop gradually.”
Baroni: “We were up against a good team, who always looked to play football building from the back. At the start we were a bit tentative but the minute we applied the pressure we started to play as we know how to. I liked how compact we were, it was a good test. For the continuation of the tournament we need to look at ourselves and take things game by game. Now we’ll look to get our energy back. We’ll make some changes for the next match.”
Ruggiero: “Before striking the penalty I was a bit tense, but then I relaxed and it all went well. I’m happy at scoring, but above all for the victory. Today’s approach was fundamental, we took to the field with the right motivation and in the second half we took advantage of the gaps they left as they searched for a way back.”
Liviero: “We struggled a bit at the start, but the goal gave us courage. It went better afterwards and we handled the situation well. Physically speaking, they were very strong, but we compensated for it through our talents and our passing football. My performance? I’m happy; I always look to make a contribution – also going forwards.”
