Juventus have got their Viareggio Cup campaign off to the best possible start and are the fourth team in the competition to record a 100 per cent record so far. Yesterday’s narrow victory over Apia Leichhardt guaranteed Marco Baroni’s side a spot in the last-sixteen with a game to spare.
Just two teams have made it through to the next round, with Atalanta joining the Bianconeri in the knockout phase. Instead, Genoa and Poggibonsi have both achieved maximum points in Group 3 and will fight it out to prolong their stay in the competition.
Two more qualifiers could emerge from today’s 12 fixtures, while all teams involved in the last-sixteen will be confirmed by Saturday evening.
