Marco Baroni’s Primavera will now focus all attentions on their Viareggio Cup campaign after tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final against Fiorentina fell victim to the weather (see news). The world’s most prestigious youth tournament gets underway on Monday 6 February.
Today’s draw means that Juventus will be one of the first teams in action. The young Bianconeri have been placed into Group 4, and are due to face Danish side Nordsjaelland on the opening day at 5.15pm. The game is to be played at the Stadio Alberto Picco in La Spezia.
Two days later, on Wednesday 8 February, the Bianconeri will take on Australian team Apia Leichhardt at the competition’s main stadium in Viareggio. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.
The final group counter will take place on Friday 10 February at 3pm. The Stadio Filippo Raciti, located in Quarrata, provides the venue for the clash with Città di Marino.
All teams who top their groups at the end of the qualification stage will go through to the quarter-finals. These will be contested on Thursday 16 February, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday 18 February, before the final which will be played in Viareggio on Monday 20 February.
