the question is not if VdV is out of our reach, the question is if he suits our play. I must admit, i was all for signing a AM like VdV is, but if i reconsider how we are most probably going to play, i think alonso(/aquilani) might be the better option. Simply because a CM suits our play better than that 'creative AM'.
First of all, we are playing with 'creative wingers' (giovinco/neddy - camo) so adding another Attacking midfielder would be pretty risky. We can't make 3 out of 4 midfielders run forward. Secondly, we all have to admit that sissoko needs someone he can pass to. A VdV does not go and grab the ball where sissoko made the tackle, and we all know that sisso can't pass in long-range.
The only reason we are not linked with VdV (and we never really were, it was all made up by the papers, because i remember every juve-official stateing that we don't need/want him) is because a traditional CM is more what we are looking for.

but i'm really just pointing out the obvious facts. To be honest i'm kind of tired reading we should sign Diego/VdV/... without being disrespectful, but i think that those who want those types of players don't understand much of football - they see someone being pretty brilliant in serving a ball and creating assists, and think that those players are just what we need. But consider that those players are key players in their respective teams and that the whole tactics are based on them creating danger. at juve, we just don't play like that! Full stop!
