Van Der Vaart To Replace Ronaldinho At Barça

Barcelona have held preliminary talks with Rafael Van der Vaart's agent as they hope to sign the Holland international when Ronaldinho's move to AC Milan is finally made official.

The Blaugrana have asked the Rossoneri not to make any statement regarding the move for the Brazilian until after the Catalan outfit have played their final Champions League game of the season.

If Frank Rijkaard's team are eliminated by Manchester United at the semi final stage then Milan will be given the green light to announce Ronaldinho's imminent arrival, but if Barça progress they will be asked to wait until after the final.

With Ronaldinho set to sign a five-year deal at the San Siro that will see his wages rise from the €8m-per-year he earned at Barcelona to €12m-a-year, the Blaugrana will have more finances to play with.

Having been linked to several players in recent weeks to play down the left, Txiki Begiristain and Rijkaard are already talking to Van der Vaart agent, Bayram Tutumlu, about the player's interest in a move to the club.

The Hamburg star has Spanish heritage and has often been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but their interest cooled last summer and now Barça are set to offer him the chance to shine in la Primera.

We are just too slow.. same silly mistakes whenever we want to sign anyone..
i dont believe we went after him.. Of all the articles strongly linking us with him never once did a member of our staff inidicate that we were interested in him, quite the contrary actually.. We can't blame Secco for not sealing this deal but we can blame him for not being interested

If Ranieri wants to keep playing a pretty orthodox 4-4-2, VdV wouldn't fit in anyway.

The Barcelona link doesnt surprise me one bit. They have,in the not so distant past, been a home to dutch players just like Juventus has been to French and Milan has been to Brazilian players. If Ronaldinho really does move to Milan, then id exepect Barcelona to snap up VDV.It all makes sense - The Dutch past at the club, the vacancy left by Ronaldinho, the free flowing style the play etc.Its a perfect fit.He wont get this at Chelsea.

Barcelona is showing interest in van der Vaart again as possible replacement for Deco who could leave this summer.

And looks like we're still interested along side with Chelsea.

I think van der Vaart would be perfect in case we don't get Aquilani,Xabi or Hamsik.

He has a bad character(aka Inter-esque character) though, but a few slaps from uncle Claudio should solve the problem.

agree. But then; why does van der vaart have a bad character? because he publicly states that he wants to go away from hsv? It's clear that a player of his qualtity does not rot in a team like hamburg. He makes it public... so what? i prefer that to any other player who gives one interview after the other and says how well he is in his club, and then, at the end of the season he leaves because he gets 100 euros more.
Van der Vaart may not be the typical always-friendly dude from next door, but 'bad character' is a tough word. All the media-fuzz around him and valencia, and juve were only partly his fault (he should not have done that thing with valencia, i agree there), but then again... i mean, everyone knows he wants to go away, why pretend something else... i'd welcome him, although he doesn't fit our playing style atm i think. He's too offensive for sissoko. Sisso needs a CM he can give the ball to, the AM is too far away from him

"His performances drew negative reports from the media, who constantly criticized him for being overweight and spending too much time at glamourous parties with his then fiancée"

    -Wikipedia

And I read on german Wikipedia that he once refused to play as a left midfielder against Bayern in the CL.

Why does he has to make a pic with a Valencia&Juventus jersey...who's next?Chelsea anyone?

Sure,he can tell the whole world he wants to leave(he even said that HSV is just a shortterm solution before he will join a bigger club),but not in that manner. That lacks class, really.
