and now this...

Chelsea Still Monitor Van Der Vaart

With the transfer window set to re-open in less than five months, it seems that Chelsea have not forgotten about Rafael van der Vaart, who impressed their scout in Germany and Austria with his performance in Leverkusen, last Saturday.
The Dutch master, who celebrates his 25th birthday today, earned Hamburg the lead at the “BayArena”, before Bayer managed to save a 1-1 draw to leave the two sides joint-fourth in the Bundesliga, six points off the pace.

However, Huub Stevens’ side are still competing in the UEFA Cup and have also reached the quarter-finals of the Pokal, largely thanks to their captain’s contribution. The former Ajax star has scored 17 times in 27 outings this season, not to mention the number of goals he’s set up for his teammates.

Bonhof tight-lipped

And Chelsea, who have been linked with the inspirational playmaker for months, alongside the likes of Juventus Turin, Internazionale and Valencia to mention a few, allegedly sent Rainer Bonhof to watch Van der Vaart in action once more, even though he declined to admit it.

“I should not betray who I looked at,” the German legend told Bild tabloid. “But if one watched the game one should know who caught the eye.”

HSV could have won the clash, creating no fewer than 20 goal-scoring opportunities with Van der Vaart involved in 13 of them! However, the international midfielder, who recently turned down an offer to extend his contract until mid-2012, refused to comment on Bonhof’s presence.

“The interest of other clubs is secondary for the momentoweverHowe . I’d like to finally win something with Hamburg and land a title at the end of the season.” he was quoted as saying by Bild.

Lampard really does make the most sense, assuming Juve has faith in Giovinco. Lampard is essentially a much better version of what Tiago was expected to do. Diego can do that too, but he's more suited to be an attacking midfielder, than a jack of all trades Central Midfielder. VDV is essentially a mixture of Giovinco and Palladino, but more seasoned and experienced. Bringing him in, to me, says that one or both of them won't see much playing time.

Now, i want to understand what do u, ppl, like the most :

- Seeing juventus gain trophies or play for 3rd place again. If you want the first option then we must bring world class players here and forget about palladino and marchisio should have some time to play. Remember we'll probably play calcio, coppa and CL next year so...

i have a feeling VDV will defn go to Chelsea as despite what he says about joining us Chelsea will pay more so ..

And Diego will go to Barca/Madrid/Inter

Quaresma will go to Inter

...

no one will come here ..

at least we have Giovinco .. unless we sell him to Siena or Toronto FC or something.

I hope my feeling about this is wrong.

Maybe they are going to buy him and we`ll end up with Lampard. We`ll probably have Ranieri after the end of the season so who knows...Lampard is cheapest after all.
If we could defn sign Lampard I would do so right away because it is at least getting someone who is good.

The club will probably just convince poor Nedved to sign a 10 year contract and say Diego is not wanted or something.

I love Nedved but is it so impossible to convince him to stay and sign a top player?

But if he does and Giovinco comes back I would not worry about the LM position.

Lamps would be useful in the CL and in us getting goals from the Midfield which is impossible at the moment it seems... but i am worried by his recent injury problems. he never had injuries before so maby we might be seeing something like what started Vieira's downfall in his last year at Arsenal.

Good teams have world class depth, absolutely.

However, Juventus is on a budget and needs to cultivate WC depth as well.

I simply meant that buying both Diego and VDV wouldn't be a good idea, since it would mean little to no money left to improve the defense. Even with VDV and Diego... with that current defense, and a likely injury, they will be battling for 3rd again anyway.

Diego can coexist with Giovinco and Palladino as he brings a completely new aspect to the game... VDV is too similar.
