Have you seen him in his latest caps for Holland as a right-winger? He was brilliant!! So I don't know about that for sure...
No, I haven't

I just thought since his prefered role is as a playmaker, why not play him there. I might be wrong though...

yes he would like to play there for Holland, but we also have Sneijder and because VDV is more versatile he can also play on the right, so both players can play

Because I am a Chelsea sympathizer. Before you flame me, please listen to this:

I rooted for Chelsea before the Russian scumbag moved in on the team. I liked them years before that, but I have taken so much shit because of that!

I assume with him playing on the right and being left footed he would want to cut inside most of the time and so would spend most of his time in a central area anyway.

I am just speculating as I haven't seen him play RW.

I never rated VDV as a playmaker. You know he doesnt get "it" as some more creative players do like Zizou, Nasri, Veron, Totti, Messi, Ronaldinho. But that is no knock on his talent. I think the days where you needed prototype playmaker are long gone. And I see a lot of teams having success with players who are more direct, goal-orientated than traditional trequarsista. I think VDV would fit perfectly into wing forward in 3 attack line-up. And surprisingly I think he would complement Iaquinta very well, feeing off knocks from Iaquinta who has terrific industry (though I wish he used his brain a bit more).

If we could get him he should definatly play at midfield!

Juventus are the latest among the top clubs to join the chase for Rafael van der Vaart.

The Dutch midfield star, who did so much to rescue Hamburg’s season from disaster, is being courted by the ‘Old Lady’ of Italian football.

It appears as if Juve will be the first club to make a move for the talented Dutchman, as they see him as Pavel Nedved's long term replacement, and who can also play the number 10 role to perfection.

Bayern Munich were linked to him earlier in the summer, but it seems he poured cold water on any potential move due to the fact they had rejected him earlier in his career.

Juventus star Pavel Nedved has reportedly told friends in Prague that "everyone at Juve is crazy about van der Vaart. He should come to us."

When approached for a comment the 24 year old said, "It’s a great honour that such a big club have shown an interest in me."

However Juve’s interest will have to be turned into a much higher offer as they are only reported to be offering €10 million. Only something close to double that will bring Hamburg to the negotiating table.

Van der Vaart has previously declared that Real Madrid would be his dream destination: "Real is my life's dream. That is where I really want to play."
