VdV and Giovinco = Totti and Cassano.

VdV would not be a replacement for Nedved though (eg. neither would Totti) the only player in the world that comes near Nedved for all round grit and explosion is Steven Gerrard but outside of our poll that one's not happening.

We have to accept there is no 'other' Nedved coming to Juve anytime soon.

Do not know if this is the right place to post this ... (Hope i dun get bash)
Happened to watch some old juve videos in youtube. Cant help but notice that Lippi used to play Jugovic with Zidane (both pretty offensive midfielders) and i'm amazed how strong the midfield are:

My point is ... we can play VDV with Govinco or even Diego. This crucial player back then was really Deschamps as I think he provide the assurance and platform for the Midfielders to go forward

Govinco -> Del Piero
VDV -> Jugovic
Diego -> Zidane
Marchisio -> Deschamps

Of cos, this is asking too much of Secco. Nontheless, this is juz my 2 cents and i juz maybe dreaming ..:lol:

that's not just asking too much of Secco, but is also asking too much of any transfer manager in the world (Madrid and Chelsea are exceptions) . VDV will cost at least 10 million and Diego would never go for anything less than 30 million. That's 40 milions on just 2 players. add in another 10 million for wages and that's 50 million for a injury prone player and a brazilian. Add in that we need a defender (say Ivanovic) that's another 12 million atleast.

oh yeah and we happen to be fixing our stadium so take the costs of that into affect as well people.

Juventus sport director Alessio Seco has confirmed that the club has received offers from three clubs to loan Sergio Almirón for the next six months.

"We have had offers from Besiktas of Turkey, Olympiakos of Greece and River [Plate] of Argentina for the player Almirón," he confirmed in his statement. "In all the cases they ask us for a loan."

River Plate's new manager Diego Simeone has identified Almirón as the player to fulfil the role filled by Juan Sebastián Verón at his previous team Estudiantes, after missing out on his primary target Andrés D'Alessandro.

Although River cannot offer the same amount of money as their two European counterparts, they are hoping that the lure of a return to his home country will be enough to persuade Almirón to join up with them for the 2008 Clausura and Copa Libertadores tournaments.

He is known to be a great lover of South American music and Italian cuisine and with it looking unlikely that he will be able to find another Italian team for the remainder of the season, a return to Buenos Aires seems like a perfect fit.

Almirón, nicknamed 'The Witch', has spent nearly seven years in Italy, since signing for Udinese from Newell's Old Boys in 2001. He enjoyed spells with Verona and Empoli before signing for Juventus this summer for a fee reported to be in the region of €9 million.

However, he has only played sporadically under Claudio Ranieri in Turin and it seems that Juventus are ready to offload the midfielder on a short-term basis in the hope that he will regain the form he showed previously at Empoli.
