Quaresma is the real shit but he also needs to adapt to Italian football and he is mighty expensive. But in the long term he is worth the risk. Shame that we are pretty poor these days. :frown:

Someone like Malouda is a great Nedved replacement for me but he is now a Chelsea player. Chances of getting him are pretty slim.

About Van der Vaart, getting him depends on lot of things. And I am not sure if he is the one we really need. He is more of a forward than a midfielder. And he is definitely not a Nedved replacement.

He is good, I like him very much but I see him more like a support to Trezeguet.
Ha can play attacking mid and support striker. Hell, even as a winger, but he could be a Nedved replacement in the sence of playing, creating and supporting the strikers. He sure scores a lot but he isn't a real striker.

I for one wouldn't send him away if he would come knockin'.
He's a guarantee for goals from midfield.

Yeah, he shows great form for Hamburg playing a free role behind the striker. He can be Nedved's replacement though, if played centrally behind two strikers.

I still have doubts over Van der Vaart's fitness levels though.

Agreed about his fitness, but the fact that with his fitness, he can still be joint top-scorer in the bundesliga says a lot! He is injured regularly, but when fit, there aren't many better then him.

He's a great player, but I'm worried to spend millions on a guy who's so injury prone. With the latest problems of Camo, you might think that the management want someone who could play more than 30 games a season...

Difference between Quaresma and vdV is that vdVaart brings leadership.
He has been the captain at Ajax and at Hamburg. That's what I like about him.

I certainly agree, but Camo's current injury problems are a big factor why VdV is being looked at and replacing one injury-plagued player with another might not be very sensible.

I wonder why we can't get him, I'll be among the people that will say, get him! The more attack minded he is, the better, he could do for Juve what Mutu did with Toni. With any of our strikers, I feel strongly he'll do a fine job, a lot of cohersion and his kind of spirit; something good will come. He's not the substitute for Nedved, he'll bring his own style, the new blood will work wonders for the team as a whole. I can sense a renaissance.

Am talking about VDV in my last post, Quaresma doesn't cut it, he's like christiano Ronaldo, he plays well against lower clubs, on big match nights, he's nowhere to be found. His style of football is very predictable, based mostly on speed, put 2 defenders on him: one in front and one behind and he's useless, he couldn't handle a level headed defender one on one if he had to. This guys a flash in the mist. We don't need him. VDV or Diego, nothing more nothing less.

Malouda still struggling to settle in London and could be on his way at some point in the near future. hes not a regular starter anymore with wright-phillips and joe cole.

He can certainly do a good job but our left side of the midfield will be empty without Nedved. That is my point. He is not a direct replacement for Nedved. I wouldn´t refuse him but the problem with him is that he is injury prone. And that is why I hope we have 2 players for that role: VDV and Giovinco. Good thing is that his price is not astronomical and his wage won´t be as high as top earners in our team. It certainly seems like a doable transfer.

You make it sound like he is a crap player. You are way off the mark here.

I read about this but still this is his 1st season. He might settle after all. If not that would be great news if we are still interested.

E' Almiron la chiave per Van Der Vaart
12 12 2007

Almiron the key for Van Der Vaart...
Van der Vaart costs about 20m€, but the German club is arranged to droop the price (7m€/8m€) if Almiron is included in the deal...

Vaart is risky imo. Great player but seeing how some our player have serious fitness problems, Vaart might have the same case.

But we could replace fitness coach :D
