United Sign Ji-Sung Park

Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with PSV Eindhoven for the purchase of South Korean midfielder Ji-Sung Park for an undisclosed fee.

The Club has also reached agreement with the player on a four year contract. Ji-Sung will undergo a medical this week and his registration is conditional on obtaining a work permit.

Its all about the marketing. Targeting american players, now Park.

Man U are major sellouts. On the bright side, at least Glazer hasnt taken over the transfers at Man U.

"Uh, hey guys I've been thinking. How about that canadian player? Yeah thats right, Steve Nash! Lets get him!"

With their stock delisted, this is less important now. ;) But you're right -- it's a shrewd move for selling more jerseys and gaining supporters in Korea.

Real Madrid does it through the endorsement power of their signatures. ManU seems to do it to appeal to local stars.

This is totally off topic. My friend is a 1860 Munich fan. They signed a Chinese player last year, and now their website is in German... and in Chinese! Not even in English.
