To be honest, I think Barzagli has had the better year compared to Kompany. Not by much, but he has. This from me watching most of City's matches whenever I can.

Equally good maybe, but I think the goal Kompany made against ManU maybe even makes him the more important player for both teams last year, and of course, he is also the Captain and did very well for our NT also in the last few qualication matches for the 2014 WC.
But hey, the defintely both deserve to be in the team of the year.
