We need to repeat the heroic performance and mentality from Amsterdam. Then we would have great achances of advancing. I noticed Ivankovic completely changing the attitude of the players for that game. And it was spot on. Dinamo must not be afraid to attack as they have great attacking power in their team.

Also, Balaban and Sokota just don´t cut it for me. They are overrated and Sokota is way past his prime. He is also injury prone and very slow. He is good for HNL, I´ll give you that. But for European games, they need to play Mandzukic and Tadic. Especially Mandzukic, who is having a perfect season and and made the biggest impact in European matches so far along with Luka Modric. Let´s also hope Luka doesn´t injur himself or run out of form as he is the true leader of this team already at the age of 23.

I didn't catch the Amsterdam performance but I agree, our aproach and mentality will decide our success in this competition. The opponents are tough but we have our own strengths, a very compact team with good technical ability who plays one-touch football easily, not to mention a player like Modric that can take matters into his own hands and carry the whole team.

Don't even get me started on Balaban and Sokota, they're a disgrace and Mamic is an idiot for bringing them and giving them so much money. Balaban has a bigger wage than Modric! They're washed up and don't even have the motivation to play in Dinamo, they're just there to pick up the check.

Yeah, forza Luka, what I wouldn't give to see him in a Juventus jersey.

Yeah, but hell, that guy could play on crutches for all I cared. Slow as shit but still left defenders lying on the floor.

While he was playing for Dinamo at the end of his career, I used to see him on a daily basis at this bar in my building. Seriously, never once did I see him withot a cigarette.

Aberdeen will be without Darren Mackie and Jamie Smith for their first-ever Uefa Cup group stage match against Panathinaikos in Athens.

But Chris Clark and Andrew Considine have travelled with the squad to Greece and skipper Scott Severin is also fit despite going off against Inverness.

Panathinaikos' star men Dimitrios Papadopoulos and Giorgios Karagounis are major doubts for the clash.

And exciting 17-year-old winger Sotiris Ninis is also struggling to be fit.

Expect 4-5-1 ultra defensive with one holding midfielder and one marking midfielder and then ultra attacking 2-4-4 once we are losing and there are a few minutes to go. Our coach makes Raneri's team selections look predictable.

Aberdeen Boss Promises Attack In Greece

Aberdeen coach Jimmy Calderwood is anything but overwhelmed as the Dandies meet Panathinaikos in Greece for the UEFA Cup Group Stage's first matchday...



zoom - galleria Aberdeen coach Jimmy Calderwood told UEFA.com of his high spirits ahead of tonight's meeting with Panathinaikos.

The former Dunfermline boss remarked, "It's a great achievement for us to reach the group stage and there has been a lot of excitement among the fans with trips to Athens and [Atletico] Madrid.

"This club has a proud European tradition going back to the days when Alex Ferguson was in charge. You want to do well for the club and we'll give it our best shot."

Indeed, back in the days of Sir Alex, Aberdeen won the Cup Winners' Cup of 1983, reaching the semi-finals the following season.

This time around, Aberdeen are major underdogs in Europe, but Calderwood feels that anything can happen over the course of four games.

"We are not going to Athens to defend; because it's a mini-league we can still afford to go there with an attacking philosophy," he insisted.

"Even if we go a goal behind, we will still go for it."

Nonetheless, it'll be difficult: Darren Mackie (pictured), who was the goalscoring hero against Dnipro in the last round, will join Jamie Smith on the treatment table.

"Losing Darren and Jamie are massive blows because of the pace they offer, which is so important in away matches - especially in Europe," noted the ex-NEC Nijmegen coach.

Certainly, Mackie proved decisive in Ukraine for that 1-1 draw that put the Dons through on away goals, but even without him, Calderwood fancies his side's chances.

"Clearly, it would be a bonus to get something from our first game, but then again we got a result against a very good Dnipro side so it's not impossible," he mused.

Until this season, Aberdeen hadn't played in Europe since being eliminated in the first round of the 2002/03 UEFA Cup by Hertha Berlin.
