I only field 3 defenders as they do not bring that many points in. I always play 3 upfront because forwards bring in the most points, obviously, because they do the scoring. I have Shevchenko, Adriano, and Saviola up top now, and you cannot lose with those players (except for when Adriano got -2 points for a red card).
