This weekend’s return to domestic league action saw Champions League Group E rivals Nordsjaelland and Shakhtar celebrate wins, while Chelsea found themselves on the losing end of a five-goal thriller with title rivals Manchester United.
The Danish side kicked the weekend off with a 1-0 home victory over second-placed Aalborg on Friday night. Okore struck after 19 minutes to continue the Wild Tigers’ recent league revival.
Saturday, meanwhile, brought the turn of Shakhtar, who recorded their 13[SUP]th[/SUP] straight championship victory with a narrow 1-0 away success over Tavirya.
English fans were treated to a dramatic ‘Super Sunday’ as Chelsea battled back from an early two-goal deficit against Manchester United to level through Mata’s fine free-kick and Ramires’ close-range header. But red cards for Ivanovic and Torres left the hosts with a mountain to climb, and Hernandez pounced in the closing stages to snatch a 3-2 victory, cutting the Blues’ Premiership lead to a single point.
