An exciting weekend’s league action saw Juve’s Champions League Group E rivals Chelsea and Shakhtar taste victory, while Nordsjaelland’s recent troubles continued with an away defeat.
The Danish champions - who provide the Bianconeri’s next European opposition on 23 October – slipped seven points adrift of league leaders FC Copenhagen after stumbling to a 3-0 loss against Odense.
Chelsea, instead, recovered from a goal behind to overcome relegation threatened Norwich City 4-1 at Stamford Bridge. Holt stunned the home faithful with a shock opener after 11 minutes, only for the Blues to respond emphatically with a four-goal salvo that maintains their supremacy at the top of the Premiership.
Shakhtar Donetsk continued their remarkable run of form with a 2-0 away victory over Metalist. Mkhitaryan and Ilsinho struck in the first half to stretch the Ukranian champions’ winning run to eleven games. They currently lie in first place, nine points ahead of nearest challengers Dynamo Kiev.
