All three of the Bianconeri’s Champions League Group E rivals – Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk and Nordsjaelland - will return to home comforts after making their midweek bow in Europe’s top competition.
Wednesday night’s opponents Chelsea resume their Premier League duties by taking on Stoke City in a traditional 3pm kick-off. Di Matteo’s men will be looking to build on to their current total of 10 points and retain their lofty position at the summit of the English championship.
After slumping to a 2-1 defeat in last week’s derby encounter with FC Copenhagen, Nordsjaelland will look to bridge the six-point gap at the top when they entertain Randers at Farum Park.
Sunday sees Shakhtar Donetsk, the Bianconeri’s next Group E opponents on Tuesday 2 October, lock horns with Dynamo Kiev in the Ukrainian Cup.
