The Bianconeri’s three Champions League Group E rivals will return to their respective league commitments this weekend.
On Saturday, Danish champions Nordsjaelland will hope to keep up the pressure on league leaders FC Copenhagen when they welcome Randers to Farum Park. The Wild Tigers currently lie in second place on 28 points, four adrift of the main challengers to their title crown.
Over in Ukraine, Mircea Lucescu will be looking for the right response from his Shakhtar side following their first defeat of the season against Chelsea on Wednesday night. Inter-city rivals Metalurh are next to try and halt the Miners’ 14-match winning streak.
Elsewhere, Chelsea will be aiming to boost their domestic league aspirations by beating Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Defeat to Manchester United and a draw against Swansea has seen the Blues’ title challenge fizzle out in recent weeks, but the visit of Brendan Rodgers’ stuttering Reds could represent the perfect opportunity to get their season back on course.
