It's honestly not as bad as people make it out to be. Expecting Barcelona-level play is ridiculous. It's even better in person.

Ohhhh it was out before, but why the hell would you stop if there's no whistle?

How can you not find this entertaining? :p

No, it's really pretty bad. I'd say it's well below the level of both the Belgian and Dutch leagues, which aren't exactly great either. Given the sheer size of the States the MLS is very disappointing.

Problem is the salary caps, which lead to all teams focusing on the attack and a level of defending that is miles worse than in the Austrian fucking Bundesliga. It doesn't help then that there are a couple of actually pretty talented midfielders and attackers out there.

Yes, the United States is a huge country, but we are older than MLS itself while your league has existed for over a century. I don't feel it's very fair to compare them because we're comparing a foundation with a time-tested, finished product. Lets be honest here, the standard of play is medirocre at best sometimes. You want to cringe, watch the NYCFC backline. But for what it is, it's entertaining and has a loyal following. 20-40 years down the road with some growth of interest in the sport, then we'll see.

I organized taking 22 of my friends to a game later this year in A BASEBALL STADIUM. One of them asked "what do the cards mean?" We're literally building from the ground here, it's not a very commonly followed sport. It's gonna take time to have anything really marketable and presentable on a global stage.

The MLS sucks because they run the league like it's the fucking NFL. Our execs have no idea about quality football or building a style. Until we get away from the college sports model, we won't progress as domestic league. I mean look at our performances in the Champions League.

:agree:. But even with that, we could probably have something decent with more interest at youth level. We have some of the most talented athletes in the world, but they need to choose soccer over basketball or football.

Well, I agree that it's not completely fair to compare them. But I hate how the MLS is run. It's like an Americanized version of every other football league in the world, not to mention the fact that players go there to retire. Villa, Pirlo, Lampard and Kaka were all great players once, but when you're trying to build a league you shouldn't go for fading stars imo.

I agree, it's stupid. I fear it's unfortunately probably always be run like that though. Hopefully as clubs get older they'll move away from just going out to buy old players from Europe.
