It's one of the things I hate about the American standard of playoff systems: regular season tends to mean squat. But even college baseball has a double-elimination system here that should confuse most people.

I know a lot of conservatives who love the USMNT, my former high school coach included. And what is wrong with being conservative? The "Liberals" in this country are actually fascists and nothing like the true Liberals such as Thomas Jefferson. What do you think a conservative actually is?
I don't think that is correct. Much of it stems from stupidity such as baseball fans thinking that their sport is the best just because someone several decades ago said it's America's past time, which is nonsense anyway. The real past time is probably hunting and fishing.
Just be patient with them, perhaps they are coming along towards being actual fans. But then again, some people from work were calling our players Zeus, Jermaine Johnson, et cetera, so who knows.

That would destroy the small clubs. Pretty much you would have to have a European League with Juventus playing the likes of Real and Manure with no hope of the smaller sides ever making it to the top league. That would be a terrible idea for the game and would definitely make it easier for the same teams to win over and over.

The draft system is supposed to keep the league competitive. Giving the worst teams a chance a getting better. It works from time to time, but a lot of teams (Detroit and the Raiders are good examples) make some crazy picks from year to year. Draft success is more visible in baseball where teams are able to gather prospects over the course of a few seasons and then experience moderate to good success. Examples being Oakland, Tampa Bay, Philly, Arizona, and so far this season the Astros.
MLS has a similar set up with their draft and the des player limitations.

I don't at all understand how people don't get group play in the World Cup. Scoring points is something all Americans understand. That's what the group stage is about. Every team has 3 chances to score a maximum of 9 points. 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss. If you lose all your matches you go home. There's no rewarding a loss. If you score more points that two of the teams in your group you go on. Simple. If you can't understand this, then you are a moron. You need to take off your camo cap, put down the Busch Light, and stop worshipping at the alter of stupid.

I never said all conservatives hated soccer, just implied that all those hating soccer were conservatives. Big difference, though still, as all generalisations, wrong (Irony intended). However, all negative comments I have so far read concerning soccer were written by conservatives, which is why I meantioned them in that post.
The question what I have against conservative ideas is a lot more complex, and, as you correctly stated, mostly depends on what is understood under the term conservative. In this discussion I've generally used the American definition, the somewhat obscure combination of, at times, extreme economic liberalism, and conservative values when it comes to social matters, such as immigration, education, gender equality, etc, along with a firm believe in a strongly limited state. I'd maybe add rather religisously as a trait as well. Every single one of the aforementioned points, should they really be explored in a way worthy of their complexity, would be taking up pages upon pages of discussion, which is why I'm not going to comment on them individually. Also, I've never really found political discussions on the Internet forums to actually be fruitful anyways.

There are a ton, especially in cities such as New York and Boston, cities that are traditionally baseball cities. I don't think this is an issue that can be attributed solely towards political beliefs. Those that use soccer as a talking point towards political beliefs (i.e. communism) are grasping at straws to make a point and should literally hang themselves. They probably do it in order to draw in the older generations.

Thomas Jefferson was a classical liberal and warned the entire world about the liberals we have in power today. The media and dolts in this world at present time completely destroy all of these monikers, on purpose.

All I can say is, Forza USA in the knockout rounds. Most similar nation to Australia in terms of football tbh. From the way it is perceived in our local media, to the burgeoning, growing young league, to the sport battling against traditional sports in their own local market etc. We have a lot in common in terms of football.

It would have been nice. We have a young team that lacks a lot of experience at international level, but has plenty of interesting players who will only get better over the next four years. Its good that some of these players (Taggart, Davidson, Oar etc) are set to move on to bigger clubs. It just sucks that we have to get such a strong group. No mind, I reckon we'll be all the better for it in four years time.
