The best thing about our forwards is that no one really knows about them (aside from Jozy). Which could lead to them having good performances a la DeMarcus Beasley in 2002.

If we beat England it won't be about Italy or their fanboys. It would only be about our boys and their great accomplishment.
It never is with you. You'll be insulting England within minutes. You'll be boasting about how you beat the great English nation, you'll probably throw the American revolution in the mix and make fun of American EPL commentators while you're at it. I have never seen someone who is less gracious in victory than you.

But it can be damn funny at times.

Australia V USA tonight (aussie time).

Good hit out for us against big strong opposition. It's funny how similar both of our countries are when it comes to football.

And I hope you guys defeat the English scum.

Should be a good match. We will be testing new guys up top because of Jozy's injury, so no idea what to expect.

The match is at 8:30am Eastern in the States.

I would watch, as I want to see how USA get on before they have to trouble the English, but our game starts half an hour before this one. Stupid kick off times.

    USA 3 - Australia 1
Could have been 4-4. Neither defense could be bothered to mark runners out of midfield so the game was lively in the first half. Australia looked to play the ball wide and test the US in the middle via long, floating crosses. They were successful at crossing, but not finishing.

US was strong up top with Buddle and Findley working together with the midfield to drive the soccer-roo defenders krazy.

Very fair assessment of the game.

You guys tore us to shreds a few times defensively though. Our lumbering hack of a defender Craig Moore should be shot, and our DM Vince Grella (ex Parma and Torino) is fucking useless these days.

Just watching the replay of the match, and I was very impressed with our counter-attacks and pressure on the ball. That is exactly what we will need against England. Good pressure by Buddle and Findley, decent midfield organization, but the defense still worries me, especially if Gooch is not fit. Overall a good match thus far, from what I've seen.

Buddle is the real wild card. He's in such fantastic form this season that nobody seems to be able to stop him. If he can perform against a defense like England's, and get into space to score like he did with Dolomite's cross, he could be a real weapon. I'm very pleased with him, but since he hasn't performed against world class opposition yet, I'm not going to declare him to be our savior at this point.

At least our forwards have been performing in the absence of the D and A combo. Findley's speed will also be problematic for England, even if he can't finish.

Indeed, it is fantastic news. Dawson and Carragher are both slow and Ledley King has injury problems and isn't that fast either.

We should be able to run them on counters. And that's the only way we can win.

By the way, I'm so glad to have Buddle in there instead of Ching. Could you imagine that guy scoring twice against Australia, let alone hit a rocket from 22 out? :howler:
