Jaun Agudelo is training this month at Liverpool. There are rumors this may be an actual trial. Though not confirmed.

I like him. He has a lot of potential. Seems to have more skill and better understanding of the game than Altidore. So far he's one of several MLS-based US players training in Europe this winter, which I think is a good thing if we're (USA) going to progress in the sport.

    Source: Bolton eyes Tim Ream

NEW YORK -- English Premier League club Bolton has made a formal transfer offer for New York Red Bulls and U.S. national team defender Tim Ream, a source told ESPN.com Friday.

The sides are close to an agreement, with the transfer fee likely worth somewhere between $2.5 million and $3 million, according to a source close to negotiations. Incentives for game appearances could inflate the final value of the deal.

"There's not such a big gap between the sides," the source said. "There's been significant progress in the last couple of days. Right now both sides are optimistic."

After offseason training stints with Bolton and West Bromwich Albion in December, a deal looks imminent.

"There may be a little movement today," the source said on Friday. "It could potentially be done today but more likely over the weekend."

Ream, 24, has made seven national team appearances and played in 58 MLS games since being drafted in the second round by the Red Bulls in 2010. Rumors of a move to Europe have swirled since Ream's meteoric rise to the national team after his 2010 rookie season.

Bolton, which moved out of last place in the Premier League on Wednesday, thanks to a 2-1 win over Americans Tim Howard's and Landon Donovan's Everton team, is said to be in need of a center back.

Incumbent Gary Cahill is on the verge of a move to Chelsea.

The source, however, says Bolton doesn't think of Ream as an immediate replacement. "He's not being bought to replace Cahill, but certainly Cahill would be going," he said. "Certainly, the manager [Owen Coyle] does like him in that position but it's tough to replace Cahill. And other players could be coming in, too."

Bolton also has American midfielder Stuart Holden under contract.

The Red Bulls would not confirm that a deal was imminent.

"There are a few European clubs interested in signing Tim," Red Bulls general manager and sporting director Erik Soler said. "Other than that, we are not in a position to comment at this stage."

The completion of any deal is incumbent on Ream -- who is getting married Saturday -- being granted a British work permit.

    Associated Press
CHICAGO -- Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey are on the U.S. national team roster for next week's exhibition game at Italy and could play together for the first time since Jurgen Klinsmann was hired as coach last summer.

The attacking pair were among 21 players selected for the Feb. 29 match in Genoa (2:45 p.m. ET on ESPN2, ESPN3).

Borussia Dortmund forward Terrence Boyd was the only newcomer on the roster announced Thursday. He had been selected last week for the American under-23 roster for an exhibition against Mexico, also on Feb. 29.

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who made seven starts for Aston Villa while Shay Given was injured in December and January, was selected for the first time since November 2010.

Just four players are from Major League Soccer, which is in its preseason. Six players are based in Germany, four in England, two each in Denmark and Scotland, and one apiece in Italy, Mexico and the Netherlands.

Italy will announce its roster Sunday.

Preparing for the start of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, the United States will play Scotland May 26 at Jacksonville, Fla., and Brazil on May 30 at Landover, Md., then will face Canada June 3 in Toronto.

The Americans, seeking their seventh straight World Cup appearance, open qualifying June 8 against Antigua and Barbuda in Tampa, Fla.

    The roster:

Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa, England); Tim Howard (Everton, England); Nick Rimando (Salt Lake)

Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Geoff Cameron (Houston); Timmy Chandler (Nuremberg, Germany); Steve Cherundolo (Hannover, Germany); Clarence Goodson (Brondby, Denmark); Michael Parkhurst (Nordsjaelland, Denmark); Jonathan Spector (Birmingham, England)

Midfielders: Michael Bradley (Chievo Verona, Italy); Maurice Edu (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim, Germany); Jermaine Jones (Schalke, Germany); Jose Torres (Pachuca, Mexico), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim, Germany)

Forwards: Jozy Altidore (Alkmaar, Netherlands); Terrence Boyd (Borussia Dortmund, Germany); Edson Buddle (Los Angeles); Clint Dempsey (Fulham, England); Landon Donovan (Los Angeles)

Goodsen has been the 3rd CB for years. Parkhurst is in his mid twenties, decent player. Buddle was on the WC squad and is a journeyman. Boyd is an unknown, plays for Dortmund II.
