Buffon is no specialist at penalties for sure. He should do some research.

But I remember him saving two against Milan in the CL Final and saving one against Madrid in Cl.

I was not able to catch the match against Inter. Any summaries, notes?
basically we battered inter, we were faster, a fitter with all the chances, inter's closest chance was a ruled out goal for offside, otherwise they never actually tested us

Trofeo TIM: Juve pay the penalty Tuesday 14 August, 2007

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inter were only able to beat Juventus on penalties in the opening game of the prestigious Trofeo TIM at San Siro.

Just days after clashing in the Trofeo Birra Moretti tournament, the two historic rivals met again for another 45-minute match.

This time the competition was at San Siro, although Juve had the brightest start and Vincenzo Iaquinta really should have scored with a couple of early chances, but drilled wide. Former Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti also had a piledriver smothered by Francesco Toldo.

Hasan Salihamidzic took advantage of a defensive error and was brought down on the very edge of the penalty area. Toldo punched away the Del Piero free kick.

The Nerazzurri hit the back of the net after 20 minutes, but it was disallowed for offside. Walter Samuel’s header from the corner kick was valid, but Ivan Cordoba redirected it in from an offside position.

Cordoba was more valuable at the other end, where he charged down a Sergio Almiron strike, then Iaquinta touched on a Domenico Criscito header from a corner kick, but Toldo was ready.

Adriano didn’t have the confidence to take his shot first time from Julio Cruz’s assist, allowing Criscito to clear for a corner.

The match ended goalless after 45 minutes and went to penalties. Toldo saved Criscito’s first kick and Luis Jimenez sent Buffon the wrong way. Iaquinta converted into the near top corner with the inside of his right foot, while Cruz’s chip went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Jorge Andrade’s kick beat Toldo and Samuel also fired hard and high to ricochet in off the bar. Salihamidzic sidefooted a precise low finish into the corner and Cesar Aparecido’s unusual run-up confused Buffon, firing to his right.

Del Piero placed his penalty past Toldo’s outstretched fingertips. Nicolas Andre Burdisso converted the last kick into the near top corner to give Inter the victory. The next match is between Milan and Juventus.

    Inter 0-0 Juventus
Penalties: Criscito (saved), Jimenez (scored), Iaquinta (scored), Cruz (scored), Andrade (scored), Samuel (scored), Salihamidzic (scored), Cesar (scored), Del Piero (scored), Burdisso (scored)
Inter: Toldo; Burdisso, Cordoba, Samuel, Cesar; Solari, Cambiasso, Zanetti; Jimenez; Cruz, Adriano
Juventus: Buffon; Zebina, Andrade, Criscito, Chiellini; Salihamidzic, C Zanetti, Almiron, Nedved; Del Piero, Iaquinta
    Ref: Celi

Some goalies are penalty specialists and some aren't, Toldo and Reina happen to be penalty experts. Buffon and Cech aren't.

i personally have a unreasonable and unsensible rule that i use during penalty. i used this rule to decide where the takers will kick and dive towards my guess....and i dare say, i have been quite effecive at guessing the correct side (but not good enough to save all of them)...yupp...so this unsensible rule is a good way, i used it on the inter takers tonight and 4/5 kicked the side i guessed.
this rule is a secret i dreamt up myself. but let me tell u, the rule lies on the pen taker's jersey...=)
