This guy is an idiot and a disgrace to soccer. They should throw him out for those comments and I also think it was disgusting that he did not present the World Cup to the Azzurri. He should be ashamed of himself...what a small small man.

Why is it that the organizational side of soccer is filled with idiots?

BUT... even you Azzurri supporters have to agree that penalty kicks are a rather unfair method of deciding such a prestigeous trophy. As Juventus supporters we know how unfair penalties can be in recent history, and despite Blatter being a complete imbecile he does have his head on semi-straight in this discussion. I'm sure he has a little bias against Italy, however he is right when it comes to penalties... a barbaric way of deciding trophies of importance if you ask me. Football is about 11v11 not 1v1.

As Italia fans you will complain... but as Juventus fans you would concur. I believe it's time for people to come to a consensus here..

Penalty or no penalty...different people might have different opinions...

But this Blatter thingy, the timing and the manner he presented his statement sure lacks diplomacy.

Blatter is no leader material. Period.

Oh my God, this guy is a total idiot. I knew that before but this breaks the scale!

Nobody likes big matches to end in penalty, but you know what? It's the only way! You can't have a rematch, different day, different game. Someone else gets injured, a previously injured player is fit again, not to speak about the fatigue or even the unsolvable problem of organization (the fans in particular, but Blatter obviously doesnÄt care about them).

Can someone please(!) put a person in charge that acutally knows and cares about football? For the love of God!

Edit:
or gradually taking players off the field in extra time until a Golden Goal is scored.
hehe what a stupid idea... Buffon would have kicked Barthez's ass up and down the field in an 1on1 tho :-D

if not penalties, then how should matches be decided?keep on playing them till the players drop dead, the game becomes crap,a keeper gets bored and slams the ball into his own net to end the match and go home?

the penality rule is good imo.

Where exactly does he bash Italy? He is only bashing the penalty system.

"When it comes to the World Cup final it is passion, and when it goes to extra time it is a drama,” said Blatter.

I'm sorry, I must be missing something cause i dont see Blatter bashing Italy at all... All i see is a man voicing his opinion that it was a shame to see a world cup final won on penalties... Expressing his distaste to the penalty shootout full stop.. not at italy... A comment he has made about PK's for years... He's been looking for an acceptable alternative as long as i can remember

he never said something this big before.I didnt see him saying that getting Argentina kicked out on penalties is a tragedy ? or from previous competitions, all the teams that bowed out tragically...why now? when scandalous Italy won the world cup.

He didnt even hand the cup to them :disagree:

Im sure Blatter was happy when France beat Italy on golden goal in the European championships 2000. Italy never had a chance to equalise.
