Being a race driver is more then being able to drive, they need to know how to setup a car, what can be improved and so on, not everyone can do that.

And you won't here me say that fighter pilots aren't trained, they are a pilot for a living and it comes with their job.

Also, there is a difference between a good racedriver and being the best, still living F1 driver.

Okay, if you want to start to talk about g-forces and driving, then ever fighter pilot from WWII on is a better athlete.

And if you don't think so, then why are there, in 70 years, 150 top fighter pilots, and 1700 great racecar drivers.
It's not a sport nor competition. that's why.

Setup a car? When was the last time Schumacher put the engine in his car? Put the tires on his car? He knows when it runs loose, and when it is tight...when it's sluggish and when its not in the right gear ratios.....but the whole team does all of that. The same with a pilot, a pilot knows when his mixture is too lean or too thick, when the props aren't at the right angles, when the flaps need to be set, what the approach angle and approach speed are. That is much more to take into account tahn being a driver. after all, the driver DRIVES. the rest of his team do all the work on his car, and the same with the pilot.

And you won't hear me say that racecar drivers aren't trained, they are drivers for a living, it comes with their job.

More often than not though, you go to ground school, and take-off school and landing school and flight school.

When you are a racecar driver, you might go to some schools, but more often than not, your DAD teaches you.

Let's see your dad teach you how to drive...ohh, I bet he did. Let's see him teach you how to fly.

Being a fighter pilot is neither a sport nor a competition?

Since when is hunting not a sport? The enemy, animal(which humans are) is hunting, you lie in wait and prove, tactically, that you are better than your adversary.

And if it's not a competition, why have TOP GUN school or compat aces, or put tallie marks on the nose of the airplane?

    Good job thinking that through.

The same things I just said often are talked about with baseball players. People confuse skill with athleticism.

Driving requires a lot of skill, but little athleticism. Don't confuse them.

Race car drivers are good at what they do, don't get me wrong, but compare their attributes to a hockey player or basketball player. You could be a race car driver with no legs. Being skillful and being athletic are 2 different things. Where as basketball players or hockey players need to strengthen every part of their body. Making them the great athlete's they are.

True but IMO, a F1 driver is an athlete, you need great physic to be able to perform an entire season in F1, maybe even more then a 100 mtr runner or a football player.

In my case, he didn't, however, I do get your point.
But last time I checked, being a pilot in a plane wasn't a sport, even though they surely are athletes, and F1 is thus IMO, Schumacher is one of the top 10 best athletes still alive.

Not at all, I guess you don't know the training regimine for American Football or our Olympic sprinters.

And I guess you know NOTHING about boxing.

The thread is not about hose that are ALIVE, it says the best to live. That means the best to ever live. Which means that at one time they were alive.

That means past and present persons, hot-ass.

Yea...he played whole baseball seasons and a couple with his plastic hip, he played for the Raiders and got to the pro bowl one season rushing for like 1500 yards.

And he only played 11 games.

True, I don't, but that always is the case with questions/threads like these.
I am from Belgium, no one mentioned Eddy Merckx here, he won everything there was to win in cycling, but no one mentions him, people live in different places and have different ideas and visions about things, that is part of the 'internet game"

Not much, but Ali is in my list.

Ah yes, true, well, then replace Schumi by Senna in my list.
