since Japan played with 3 at the back he couldn't play there so he switched position........

Hierro almost never plays full back (wing back)

he is usually in the centre....
Abel Xavier is kind of hard
I have split opinion on him
he can be all from the man of the match to the greatest liability.....

This is such an interesting thread and its quite hilarious as well as in the summary of Metzelder, he is described asa tall central defender but this thread is about full backs (classic)

Shinji Ono has no attributes of a full back and i have never seen him play there but I have only seen himk a few times

Cordoba is a central defender as well

Baiocco is a lousy midfileder so he might well be one of the best full backs in the world but i doubt it seriously

Juan Fran is the worst player on the planet(okay slight exaggeration but he is hopeless) does anyone remember his pathetic penalty against Ireland and for Celta he is crap

Javier Zanetti whether midfielder or not is far superior to most on here asa full back and by the same token as he was discarded when Tom raised his name up, Thuram by choice is a central defender but he is on this list

Maldini , no matter how old he is will still wipe the floor with many on this list as a left full back

The insults aboutr Juanfran (it is one whole world since it is his nickname) Are quite stupendous.
Why do you suppose he was picked to represent Spain before Sergi and many others this Summer by Camacho.
Did he threaten Camacho with a gun or something?.........

Bout Baiocco he is going to be used as a full back at least that is Lippiäs intention....
and remeber the forum rules now downtalking of Juve players.
IMO all our players are great

And Cordoba is a left full back.... He plays in the centre too

Cordoba plays asa central defender for both club and country and if he were a full back , will Cuper opt to play Cannavaro there instead of him?

Metzelder, do not know too much about him, but your summary says he is a tall central defender and thats where he played in the wc

Baiocco to the best of my knowledge is a midfielder by trade and I do not know if he played there against Como, but he has not played in that position for Juve as far as i have seen and even if he has , how does that make him one of the best full backs in the world

Btw i was refering to his ability and not his person so your point of not downgrading Juve's players is mute

Juanfran, please give me a break, so what if Camacho took him to the wc ahead of Sergi? Camacho always found an alternative to Sergi anyways and besides which manager in the world is not partial to at least 1 useless player

Your choice of thread is a difficult one to talk about as there are very few great full backs

Besides I have never understood your reasoning , if a player plays 2 matches this season at full back, then he is a full back, never mind that he has been a central defender all his career or forward.

Zanetti as a full back is far more competent than most on your list and Maldini, who cares if he now plays as a central defender , is probably the best left full back in history, well he is mine anyway


What of the likes Lauren, Pablo of deportivo, otero of athletico madrid, yobo of everton and nigeria, udoeze of nigeria,Arellano of mexico played well in the wc as did Sanneh of U.s.a, Unsal of Turkey is alright as well

The only game i had no details about was the Como game and in football italia website, Juventus: Buffon; Thuram, Iuliano, Montero, Moretti (Zambrotta 66); Camoranesi, Baiocco (Zenoni 46), Davids; Trezeguet, Salas (Zalayeta 58), Del Piero

Now I did not see the game but from what I read on the forum , it says we played 4-3-1-2 which can only mean that thuram at right back, moretti at left back, iuliano and montero in the centre, more importantly it shows Baiocco in the midfield and he only played for 45mins

Now I was here when we played the other official matches both in serie a and cl and in no game was Baiocco employed as a full back so please pretty please with sugar on top , pray tell where did you see Baiocco play as a full back, and more importantly warrant him to be one of the best 20 full backs in the world

The Nigerians you mentioned aren't bad but before the WC wasn't Udeze or Yobo playin for Crewe???

so it would be quite hard to put a division 2 players amongst the best in the world

Sodje is the one who plays for Crewe and though its all about opinions, lizarazu has nothing on Maldini

To be honest I cannot count 10 world class full backs, so most of the names i am reading here are just good players, nothing like world class

Players like Panucci can be considered here and he is very ordinary but it will be difficult to find 19 full backs better than he is
