why do u hate france so much , i can't find the reason as the french team only won the WC once , but i'd rather think that euro2000 has something to do with it !!

I HATE NOW I MEAN ABSOLUTELY HATE S. KOREA. THE NAME MAKES ME SICK!!!!!!!! AFTER THE WC 2002, I GOT SOO PISSED, AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM, THAT WAS ABSOLUTE BS, THEY WENT ON AND KICK OUT SPAIN (CHEAPLY AGAIN) AND LOST TO GERMANY, AND CAME 4TH, AT LEAST IF THEY LET ITALIA GO, THEN ITALY WOULD HAVE KICKED BRAZILS ASS IN THE FINAL, AND SHUT RONALDOS ASS UP! c'mon a penalty right in the begining of the game, (buffon saved it beautifully) then totti red card? please, and that wc had soooooooo many dissallowed LEGIT! goals. absolutely pissed me off. ITALIA arguably had the best line up in wc, but freaking politics screwed them over (cough) s. korea and friggin croatia.

What makes you think that we couldn't have beaten Brazil? I mean, we had a superior 'keeper, a superior defence, a hardworking midfield, and loads of talent upfront. I'm pretty darn sure that the three Rs (Rondo, Riva and Ronho) would've found it more difficult to score against Buffon, Cannavaro, Nesta and Maldini than Totti, Del Piero and Vieri would have found it to score against Marcos, Lucio, Edmilson, Roque Junior, etc, etc. All in all, if the referring was good, I think we would've been able to beat anyone in this WC.

I don't, I really don't. I mean, on paper, this Italy could beat anyone but somehow, Trappatoni just hasn't been able to motivate them, get that potential out, you know what I mean?!

I think Italy would have stranded on Spain or at least Germany...

I know what you mean Erik, but I kinda disagree. Firstly, had it not been for reffing errors we would have probably won Group G, and once more, if it had not been for reffing errors we would have beaten South Korea which would have put us into the Quarter finals. True, Trap doesn't seem to get the lads motivated, but at the QFs of a humongous tournament like this, don't you think that the fellows would be naturally motivated? I do.

What I'm saying is, that if Italy were good enough to beat Brazil in the final, then they were also good enough to beat South-Korea, refereeing errors or not!

They should have created more chances and more importantly - score from them. Remember Vieri's total miss?

Once again I have to disagree. Don't you think that we would have tried harder and put in more effort against Brazil than we did against South Korea? Sometimes teams have bad days, and I think that the Korea match was one of Italy's bad days. Look at the same Brazil for example. They only beat Belgium because of refereeing errors. If they were so good wouldn't they have won without the help of the refs?

That's true but once they got to the final, they looked unbeatable. Germany never stood a chance. And though I believe Italy would have had a better shot at the title than Germany, I still wouldn't have favoured them...

Thank you and likewise. It would always have been a gamble of course and after the debacle that this WC was, we'll always be guessing...

At least we can agree on the poor standards of refereeing last summer :groan:
