Tom Waits is brilliant, and Martha is off of his "Closing Time" Album which came out in '73.

The "Small Change" album, released in '76, is also excellent.

i know one piece by heart:

"i dont go to church on sundays
i dont get on my knees and pray
dont memorize the books of the bible
i've got my own special way<...>"

and one more (this one is brilliant indeed):

"what is he building in there?"

Don'short change the man, Tom Waits is one of the very few long running musical acts who has never released a poor record. Amazingly consistent. I also highly recommend Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs and Mule Variations.

BTW, don't you think that avatar you have is a tad uh....obsecene?

I'm not shortchanging the man, I just picked out two of his most brilliant pieces of work. They also happen to be the only 2 CD's of his that I own.

And as far as my avatar is concerned. Thanks, Duly Noted. If I had the skill to paint a Juve kit on the guy standing up and a Milan kit on the one who's passed out, believe me I would.
