we are too amateur for that, we couldnt even sell Diego for a decent sum, best we can hope for Tiago is use him as a trade coin and if we fell again, just gift him away, like we did with so many other players, losing millions in the process.

The hype is for the ignorant masses, point was that Tiago and Almiron were average players, meant for average teams.
When we should we adding stars, we added average players and now that there are no longer any stars left, it is nearly impossible to attract new ones (for a reasonable price)
I for one i ve been condemning this strategy since the day we were in serie B, hindsight is not needed when you actually have a clue and the brains to comprehend it, but unfortunately our management, still, lacks both.
We sacrificed our future for momentary gains and as expected, we gain nothing!

Tiago's case ought to teach smth, but we still make the same mistakes...

Almiron was always an average player, sometimes showing hints of class. Tiago was and is, of a much higher level of quality. He was consistently strong at Lyon, chelsea, and at atletico madrid since moving on loan there. Chelsea were at the time, and still are, one of the strongest teams in one of the strongest european leagues. he has also played consistently well for Portugal. I guess it depends what you mean, cronios, by 'average' team and 'average' players...I can agree with you when using such terms for the argie, but not for Tiago, who has played often damn well, for very decent teams.

I stick by my original assessment of his move to Juve here:

Bah. I see enough Tiago in the Portugal NT as well. Not a bad player, but Lyon is a great fit for him. I don't see him recreating that level of success elsewhere. A bad move for him and for the team he goes to, IMO.

Atletico Madrid have decided against taking up the option of signing permanently on-loan Juventus midfielder Tiago.

Marca says Atletico do not want to take up their option to make the move permanent.

As the 29-year-old still has one season left to run on his contract, he would therefore return to Juventus.

It is a double blow, as the Bianconeri must find another club for him and cannot use Tiago as part-exchange in an offer for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.

well..they have certainly made good use of him...so obviously he is not as shocking as so many goons suggest he is. As for WHY he is not signing on permanently with Ateltico, i never trust the spanish, so i will hold fire on any focused solely on Tiago condemnation...and air the idea that ateltico are playing games with us, knowing how eager we are to offload Tiago, and expecting us to offer him to them for far less than whatever our asking price is. If all fails...and he seriously returns to us, i remain, able to remember seeing him play damn well not just for Lyon, but also for Chelsea...he is NOT a poor player. Still part of the portuguese national team setup, played frequently for atletico...i doubt we will have problems offloading him, and if he stays, well...i believe he has more quality than in the least Marchisio and Momo...less than Big Phil Melo and Alberto Aquilani, but for club and country, this last season or two, he has bettered two of our core midfielders...

He would be a good sub for Aquilani (assuming we take up the option)

He does play best in a 433 so if we have to keep him then maybe we should give him one final chance, unless we get a decent offer in which case we should def sell his ass.
