One of the major problems of our midfield this season has been their ability to retain possession and also to move the ball to our offensive players. We have been able to tackle, but not pass. Which makes life much harder for the team as a whole. Obviously.

Tiago can pass. In a period where NOBODY in midfield, is in even half decent form, other than Marchisio, and Momo is OUT, we should give Tiago a start centrally in a trio, as I saw someone suggesting in the tactics thread.

Flank him with Marchisio and Melo, and lets see if he can improve our tecnhique in that area of the field.

It doesn't make any sense for a player who was always reliable and high quality in other teams to have become useless for us. Though that is what reality demands I accept. Having seen him played out of position, I hold nothing against anyone but Ciro for his poor form this season, when used. And can only hope, that we play him, in his natural position.

He used him once on the flank and it is the most evident mistake Ciro has made. First with Tiago was that he cannot play in the two man midfield which CR was playing with (even though he had his best run of form in that system, leading to the Inter game last year where he got injured). Then his form dropped again later in the season.

This year we have been playing a three man midfield all year, which is his preferred system but he has been nothing above average and horribly below average in the last game where he spurned two relatively easy chances ( one beautifully set up by trezi and the other was a free header) and he was pushed around all over by Donati of all people.

I don't get it with this guy either, but right now we should give him a run in the team (well he will have to play in the Catania game) then if he takes up the chance maybe he could fix the problems.

Perhaps I remain so perplexed by his complete metamorphasis from Wicked to Corpse, that i am making more excuses for his poor form than are realistic, sateeh...I had just got it into my head that for much of this season he has been injured or played on the flank of a trident midfield. Has he played many times in the middle of a trio???? Not when we have tried the 4-2-3-1 as Diego takes the middle spot, and Camo and Gio are naturally wide players...so it can only work when we play the 4-3-1-2 system...though Melo, Marchisio and Poulsen have had the lion share of that 3.

So perhaps its mainly through injury this season why I haven't seen him.

though I haven't lost all hope yet.

You want Tiago to come back in the summer or not?
Who cares about the summer. We need to weaken our closest rivals, especially when Italy will have only 3 CL spots for next season.
Tiago can become a modern day trojan horse, locking Vargas and co to toilets before Juve-Viola match starts. Putting laxative in to Prandellis coffee cup and so on.

 Excellent.

I really hate loans, but they would pay us for him, right? He'll be of more use to us for the rest of the season like that, than being on our bench.

As good as it sounds, he will still return and pull the same antics with us. Maybe if it's last resort, loan him. We have the whole of January to get rid of him for good.
