Bologna without Zirkzee, Calafiori and Saelemaekers is doing just as good as last year, even though they played 8 additional matches in the CL and more matches in Coppa Italia. They are 2 pts behind a strengthened Juve (this time last year they were 7 pts behind).
Looks like Motta wasn't the reason for their success. He was the reason why they didn't do even better last year.

We were going downhill when Allegri 1.0 left, but we kept the tradition of winning trophies after he left. Even Pirlo won a trophy. The transfers killed us as well. After Ronaldo, we massively downgraded our squad in all areas. It didn't help that we had no plan or a style to continue, hence the wild transfers like Arthur etc.
We went gung ho for the attacking style but sacked Sarri. He was a douche, but he had the credentials to be a success and should've had another year. Winning the league isn't easy, you need to consistently pick up points and there is constant pressure to perform every week. By then our UCL dreams were over, we had downgraded too much to be serious challengers. Big players left like Pogba and you can't get such players these days. Now we just throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.
We need an experienced coach. Even if they're defensive, we need build from the back as a solid team that gives nothing away. When we have a backbone that can control the game, you add the flair and build again to consistently make the latter stages of UCL, but on the backdrop of domestic league and cup wins. This bullshit experiment needs to end now.
