We are not use to this brand of football. Not even in our glory days we were playing every game with this kind of attitude. We are always looking to score, no matter the circumstances. I dont recall this in 30 years of watching this team.
100%. I'm so Allegrified that I was questioning why we didn't park the bus after 2-2 and when he subbed Savona I was wondering why he was bringing on a creative midfielder instead of a defender like Danilo.

Fuckin' Allegri made me a pussy

Made the right tweaks and changes both after the red card and also after going down by a goal, was able to overcome the adversity and did not settle for anything less than going for the win, we did suffer towards the end as it was to be expected but we held our ground well and fully deserved it.

It's just not an Allegro thing. This is what Italian teams are/were known for.

I mean Conte played for a draw against an inferior Benfica side in a semi-final of a European competition ffs

If you overdo pragmatism in CL these days, chances are you are more likely to get punished.

Watching other teams in Serie A closely this season made me realize how modern Italian football has become even more defensive than usual. It really encapsulates the term parking the bus.

Its a cultural thing that’s painful to watch sometimes and it surprised the hell out of me just as it did you that we did not sit back even with 10 man at their turf. Hell, even after the 3rd goal we still pushed forward whenever there was an opening.

Allegri would have had a fit. A complete meltdown. Props to Motta. Balls of steel.

I said last year: this club is bigger than Allegri, he absolutely brainwashed many people in believing his ideas were the right ones.

not only italians. when you're down to 10 cause your goalie just got a red, your first sub is an attacker off for the goalie 99% of the time. then you'll see how the game develops. max, mourinho, tuchel and most pragmatic coaches would park the bus and get a point if lucky. the other end of the spectrum is the romantic naive hipster like ange who played with an extremely high line even with 2 men down against chelsea and got punished and also ridiculed

motta gambled well withi his moderate approach and got lucky too as leipzig had multiple chances to score. it was a great game other than the catastrophic refereeing and bremer's injury, and a proper team effort at that too. motta fully deserves the praise. but it still could have gone either way and even if we'd lost the game i wouldn't blame it on him. we didn't really get countered, we kept on pressing, but not with a very high line. that was a safe and brave approach at the same time
