I disagree that Vidic is better than Chiellini. And Carvalho is simply NOT in any way. Getting 25 millions for Chiellini? He is born 1984 and you know that, right? He has 6+ top seasons ahead of him and he is the best defender in italy for close to 5 years... Jeez, I though by thinking of a sale at all I was not rating him enough, but you are on another level.
One should not forget that Vidic is playing with Evra, Ferdinand, Neville and a bunch of young stars next to him. While Chiello is changing partners like napkins, with the only consistent part of this strategy being him - the only one that has class out of his colleagues. Not to mention coaches, tactics ...
Mark my words here - if Chiellini goes to Real Madrid, and believe me they will gladly pay more than 25 mils for him, he will be the beast in seasons to come. Equally important to Ronaldo for them. Mourinho knows his defending and his desire to have Chiellini for quite some time now is well bespoken of. In conclusion, I would just like to add that if the fans of this club rate chiellini, our top player for years, less than 25 mils - i would love to see him proving them wrong. I have this feeling, that with him and Pepe at the back Real would make a new home record for Mourinho.
Chiellini changing partners and having shitty fullbacks around him doesn't change the fact that he's very limited technically, and his passing skills is way below average. That won't change even if he has top players surrounding him.

Let's just agree to disagree. I think you're overhyping Chiellini like a motherfu****, and you think i'm doing just the opposite, which is fair enough. Our opinions is simply lightyears apart.

To me it all depends how much we could get from a Chiellini sale. If a club would pay around €25M i would sell him. We should be able to get a classy replacement with that kind of money, who's younger and who could develop into a world beater.

I totally agree with you on the pairing of Chiellini and Bonucci. I said it the moment we bought him last summer, those two will never fit together. We should have bought Ranocchia instead, seeing as he's the type of defender who would fit in perfectly with Chiellini.
I don't agree about Ranocchia but yeah, I think we had better options to pair somebody with Chiellini.

David Luiz went for that and he's ahead of Chiellini now.
Agreed.

In a way that he's simply a better defender. In a couple of years Luiz will be top defender and at a level that Chiellini has never had, nor will reach.

You can give him 5 years, but it won't change a players style of play, and Bonucci's style of play doesn't fit Chiellini's.
Good fullbacks will definitely make our defence better as a whole. But it won't make the pairing of Chiellini and Bonucci any better. They will never become a topclass pairing, no matter how many years you give them to gel.
True.

I disagree that Vidic is better than Chiellini. And Carvalho is simply NOT in any way.
Vidic is better than Chiellini for sure while Carvalho has been great in Porto and Chelsea.

Looks like a diss from my side. I think Chiellini is a great defender for sure but not somebody who can step on the next level and become a top defender. That being said I don't think he's irreplaceable BUT we should not sell him.

€50M for Chiellini? What a fucking joke. If we get half that, we should be more than happy.

Carvalho got sold to Real for €8M which is a bargain, and in terms of quality, Chiellini doesn't even come close. The same goes for Vidic, who also is on a whole other level than Chiellini.
Carvalho was 31 years old.

:pint: Agreed. 50 mils are good enough for me, especially given the fact that we won't be competitive for at least two more seasons, but 25 for Chiello is a joke imho.

Vidic is better than Chiellini for sure while Carvalho has been great in Porto and Chelsea.

It surely looks like a diss. I think Giorgio has been more consistent (including this season) than those two and he is 26 still. Vidic has 3 more seasons than Chiello, while Carvalho, with 6+ getting into his last year of big football, was great for a total of 3 seasons and good for the rest at chelsea@ his best days. Which brings me back to my question: If we suppose that a defender is getting his best between his 27th and 32nd year - why would someone sell chiello for 5 mils a season? Carvalho got sold for 4 and he had the arrow of time on his back pointing towards decline already.

How can you get 50 for Chiellini when teams pay as much for Torres? Even less for David Villa? David Luiz who's much bigger potential went for 30.

It's totally unrealistic to expect somebody to pay more than 30mln for Chiellini at this point.

They were offering close to 25 for the older/worse Vidic with one year on his contract. If you see how much Real M paid for Carvalho, a squad player in Chelsea with astronomical wages, half the qualities of Chiello and twice the age - why wouldn't anyone pay 50 millions for our hero?
Carvalho having half the qualities of Chiellini, por favor. :lol2:, He runs circles around him.
