In regards to the World Cup, I don't think the selection was the issue. In Fact, I can solely blame it on tactical mistakes. I mean c'mon the guy played Iaquinta as a winger :seven:

Vucinic and Menez apparently asked to be on a transfer list for June..
I'd take 'em both.

Buffon

Cassani----------Bonucci--------Chiellini----------Criscito

Marchisio------Melo

Krasic--------------------------------------------Menez

Quagliarela------Vucinic

edit hm the scheme can't stand in the middle.

take Matri for example. He was Cagliari's best scorer this season, and, AFAIK, after we bought him they didnt bring anyone else to replace him. What sense would it make for Cagliari to loan their best player for half a season for just 2 mil €? They lose their best striker when they're fighting to stay in Serie A, they dont get enough money to replace him. What exactly do they get out of the deal? Because if it's just a loan they'd lose him for half a season basically for free and get him back next season, without gaining anything. Now, they might be a small club, but I doubt their management is completely retarded.

Thats why the three above players are not real loans. They have been signed. The loans are just formal, for financial or other reasons, and Marotta has promised (or made a gentleman's agreement, whatever you want to call it) to buy them. The only way not to buy them would be for Marotta to break his čpromise given to the other clubs, and that wont happen.
I think you're being sensible here. I'd also point out that the loan+buy options are also a form of risk management. If the players don't work out with us, then we don't have a written obligation to buy them. I'm not sure about the details of private conversations between GM's, but Marotta probably made a gentleman's agreement to sign them provided they aren't complete disasters.

The loan+buy options are also another way to delay the installments for transfer fees, so that they are due at a later date. It's a way of spreading over cash flows. Now, a problem could arise here if these transfers are based on future expected cash flows we thought would come in, like the Champions League for instance. Whether that's the case or not I'm not sure.

Nick posted an article on the last page in which Inler says Napoli is no go.

Yes, but there will probably be competition for his signature.
Very different times. You need to look at an acquisition like this in the context of the alternatives available, and the general standard of the league as a whole that is not what it used to be in 2003.
I'd take 'em both.

This would be brilliant.

You can also play 4-2-3-1 with Vucinic on the wing and Menez as an attacking midfielder.

 I know who he is.
I know that, I was just pointing that how he used to play for Juve and now he's not. It's so facepalm worthy (and depressing) the number of good Italian players that used to play for Juve and were sold like Cassani, Criscito, Nocerino, Balzaretti and Miccoli (and who knows maybe Giovinco will join those dudes) All these players would be first choices @ Juve now. :(
