Amauri has been given a final chance to save his Juventus career when they travel to Sampdoria on Sunday.
Tuttosport claims coach Luigi Del Neri believes he can get the troubled striker firing on all cylinders - a tough task as 30-year-old Amauri has not scored in Serie A since last February.
However, Del Neri has been able to change the fortunes of Felipe Melo, who was close to leaving in the summer after a poor first year in Turin.
The striker has struggled for fitness and form as a number of injuries have hampered his progress this season.
But the feeling at Vinovo is a goal from Amauri on Sunday, should he start, will lead to Del Neri and the club reconsidering his future.
Anything less than a decent performance could lead to an exit. Roma and Palermo have recently been linked with the striker, but his agent told Goal.com on Tuesday there is no chance of him leaving soon.
