Benzema is a good footballer, so he can do other things if he needs to, but he is primarily a goal scorer..

I like a front two in a 4-4-2 to consist of a striker who is mostly a creator, who can also link with midfield, and a striker who is more of a pure goal scorer.
I think adding a good left winger and having a good enough regista would make up for lack of creativity in the striking pair. In fact I would prefer two players up front who were prolific goal scorers (if we had a creative enough midfield).

Hopefully Aquilani can be that regista.

Even with a very good left winger, I still don't think you can play a straight 4-4-2 without a striker who will drop off and link the play.

The solution is to have an awesome support striker, like a young Del Piero, who will link the play, create and still score plenty goals.

Aquilani likes to head forward a bit more than a typical regista.

And what's with playing two support strikers over the weekend? I'd rather have Iaquinta in one of the slots out there, even if DN says he's a support striker, too. I don't agree with that.

That's probably true. I don't know enough about Benzema's creative ability to make a proper judgement.

At least IQ has some arial ability. We had crosses going in all the time and the only player who made even a remotely successful attempt at connecting to them was Pepe.

I like a two man attack to have one player who will drop deep to get the ball/be able to play with his back to goal and one man to be more of a goal scorer and looking to always be in goal scoring positions and running in behind the defence.

In short, I think they are too similar.
Benzema is a true goal scorer but he has some amazing skills & ball control for an out & out goalscorer.Plus the guy has some amazing vision.

If need be Benzema can fill that SS role, that im pretty sure of.

But if you are spending a lot of money, are you going to spend it on a guy and then not play him in his natural position?

Someone is going to need to come up with a very good argument for me to think Juve should be looking to anyone other than Cassano to take the SS position.

Obviously not. I don't want him playing in that position but we certainly do need a striker of his calibre, no doubt.

Besides why does everyone assume Cassano will come on the cheap? I really, really don't see him coming for less than 25m.

The scary part is that we might end up with friggin Pazzini.

I seriously doubt Sampdoria would let him go for that amount. Especially if Marotta plans on getting anymore players from them.
Their president put it out in the open last year. I don't know if it's expired, but they won't have a choice on a clause if the player accepts terms with Juventus as well.

If we sign Benzema, I want him as a CF, with a Cassano/Rossi type behind him. I think I remember reading Fred's posts in his last years in Lyon when he felt that Benzema was being wasted in a role where he is out wide (correct me if I'm wrong on that).
