Are you only including 17 year olds or what? The names you mentioned aren't the names I mentioned and I am talking specifically of the players I mentioned and what the have been bringing to the club and will do in the future. I am not grouping ALL youngsters in the age bracket of 17 years old.
 no,you suggested that Inter and Milan were showing us the way in how to sign young players as proof that paizon should be bought. from what i can see neither clubs have a policy that promotes youth at all,in fact they do nothing of the sort and pointing out Pato is nothing but a desperate shot in the dark as that is ONE player in 10 years that Milan have bought as a teenager and has turned into an integral part of their team

This is the reason why we are were we are and Napoli, Udinese, Inter and Milan are enjoying the fruits of taking a risks on the likes of Hamsik, Pato, Coutinho, Lavezzi, Sanchez...and the list goes on. Meanwhile, our "experienced" players ala Grosso, Barzagli, Toni, etc bring us bags of knowledge.
Sanchez wasn't on €1m when he signed for Udinese, of that we can be sure. Coutinho is what, €0.5m, and even he was more proven.

If Udinese gave €1m salaries to every kid they signed their current wage bill would be €100m.

They also weren't relegated to Serie B and stripped of huge financial loss and having to rebuild their team. Either you are beating around the bush or are hugely misunderstanding me...I'm not sure which but the fact that a WELL established team bought Pato because they recognized talent vs potential and the correlation between the two as a worthy risk to take on him is exactly what we need to be doing now as its the most economically feasible act this club needs to undertake to build a team that will last longer than 2 years before being fixed with another band aid. I never mentioned once they were showing us the way, rather the risk that these clubs take is something that is needed. What is the point of having scouts and a scouting network when all we need to do is rewind the tapes back a few years and see who used to be good and whose contract is expiring.

Live in the now...times are changing and unfortunately we are going back in time rather than plan for the future.

Have you ever been to Vegas, just out of curiosity?

and i just remembered why i normally bypass the transfer threads, the level of hypocricy and nincompoopery is unbelieveable!

if anyone had cared to notice,i am actually against the signing of Pirlo, but for the same reasons i am against wasting money of Pirlo i will not blast the board for refusing to overpay on a player that may possibly NEVER PULL ON A BIANCONERI STRIP

you said we are where we are because we dont take risks like Udinese and Napoli- clubs that i pointed out have lower expectations, less pressure and less demand for instant success. i can also garauntee that they pay nowere near 1m to a teenager with no top team experience

you also included Inter and Milan in this bracket-again,apart from PAto can you name me 1 player from the last 10 years that has been brought in as a teenager, paid first team level paypacet and went on to become a massive success?

Pato is the exception to the rule, for every Pato there are 100 Robinho's

Di Natale earns less then 1m. What we need to know about Udinese's salary budget, DIRT CHEAP, talented squad, but somehow have them all on low salaries. One of he lowest in the league.

Thanks, appreciate that.

1 million for Piazon is pretty ridiculous tbh. I really don't like prima-donnas on the team. Spending that money on Hamsik or someone of the sort would be a much better investment.

Yes and buying Hamski 3-4 years ago for 500k would have also made sense too...but lets go ahead and spend 25m on a player instead.

:boh: What can I say? Buffon was expensive too :p

He is a primadonna because he wants 1m salary? When he is offered 1.5-1.7m at Chelsea, why would he settle for less then 1m with us?
I really don't blame him for taking the salary with Chelsea and wish him the best but we're not Chelsea. I still think that's too much to pay him and aren't that worked up over not getting him. It would've been nice to but that's life.

Pretty much, this is from gazzetta at the start of the season. Piazon wants more than all the rest of their team yet we get criticised for not pulling Udinese moves

I hope we are going after Totti now, a missing piece in our 'washed up italians' collection.
If we ever get him, I will stop supporting this club, the most disgustng player I know.
That's a guarantee.

No way we'll sign him to warm our bench. He will be a starter for sure.
Indeed, if he would be a backup for a better CM and with a decent fee 1-1.5 million//year, I could live with the deal, but 3 million and having him as a starter every week, please no.

Disgusting player? He's a legend for Roma. I think he means just as much to Roma as Il Capitano means to us. Would hardly call someone like him disgusting.
Nevertheless I wouldn't want him.
