Juventus can wait, says Sirigu

Palermo goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu is in no hurry to join Juventus even amid mounting speculation.

The 23-year-old Italy international is one of Serie A's brightest young shot stoppers and has attracted attention from Turin.

Juventus are always looking to rejuvenate their squad, although it seems unlikely that they will be selling Gigi Buffon or Marco Storari any time soon.

Interviewed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sirigu was asked about planned talks to touch up his contract at Palermo in January.

“There is no need to bring them forward,” he said. “Zamparini and I already spoke about it at the end of last season and we'll see each other again.

“It's all clear between us. I have a contract until 2014 and I am going forward with peace of mind.”

Reflecting on his chances with Italy, Sirigu said: “Buffon always has something extra and he is a football icon. We are all waiting for his return. In any case it's for the good of the national team.

“Cesare Prandelli has always called me and I work at my best every day so I deserve the calls.

“With respect to the role of a club manager, his job is more delicate because he has a lot of variety when making his decisions.

“It's not easy,” he concluded.
