Logic is not always simple

Giovinco is good at counterattacking in an open game yes, and thereby gave parma a nice edge + he has some freekickskills

however, he is useless when you have to make the game against a welldefending side, or a perfect pressure side like mourinho's inter.
He doesnt break the game open when its locked, he scores when the opposition is pouring forward because they need to score.

Any good goal makes the defence look bad thats the point of the attacked to make defenders look bad. Torres has made vidic look bad plenty of times but does that necessarily mean it's bad defense? If "good" defence was played 24/7 there would be no goals in soccer.
