On that note, look what popped up on the official site:

I am not really sure of the last part because Marotta went on a panic buying spree towards the end. Marotta's got more experience than Secco, so he's expected to be much better than him. Selling Diego and then not knowing whom to go after does not show decisiveness. He was good at selling players and reducing the wage budget (even though I am baffled by the Trezeguet deal).
The end was bad, and I didn't like the Diego deal coz we haven't got enough as compensation whether its the money itself, or the replacement in Quag. Selling Trez when we are short of real finishers is indeed baffling, would've kept him till his contract expires.

But again, my point was that compared to Secco, Marotta is much better. experience etc included.

Seriously :sergio:

It has nothing to do with winning or not winning the first match, but how can they even compare the 1994/95 team with this team?
In 1993/94 we finished 2nd behind one of the best clubs in history, which was Capello's Milan that won 3 scudetti in a row and just won the CL final. We had a team which already included Baggio, Ravanelli, Vialli, Kohler (all proven quality) and players who were young/youngish but proved their potential (Del Piero, Peruzzi, Torricelli).
Then the next summer, in 1994, we added proven quality players like Deschamps or Ferrara, even Jarni.

Absolutely nothing similar to today's situation. We neither had a quality team with experienced 27-28 world class players and upcoming world class players like Del Piero, that was second only to the best team in the world, nor did we strengthen the already strong team with well proven quality players.

I could understand the board defending against the strong criticism that follows after the mercato, but I hate these kinds of stories, like the one you quoted JJ.
"Hey, in 1994 we started the season without a win and we won the scudetto, plus we created the best team in the world. So who says that it won't happen again this year?"

I say so and everyone with a bit of brain will say so.

Hopefully we can at least progress and learn to ve defensively sound, im fed up of juve letting cheap goals against poor opposition. Gone are the days where we could expect only the jammiest / brilliabt of goals to be scored against us. The mercarto has given a young defence that coukd be moulded a good unit, a lot of pressure will rest on chiellini's shoulders to lead this defence.

This is the only thing i have read im sure its probably what you read too?

Juve plan January striker swoop

Juventus failed to get a striker on deadline day, but are already targeting Giampaolo Pazzini, Karim Benzema, Jermain Defoe and Romelu Lukaku.
The Bianconeri had a deal to take Marco Borriello on loan, but it fell through when Roma offered a more permanent position.
Director general Beppe Marotta is already planning ahead for January to deliver a new forward for Coach Gigi Del Neri.
According to Tuttosport newspaper, the prime target is Sampdoria hitman Pazzini, who can be sold now that they are out of the Champions League.
The Blucerchiati expect around €25m for the young forward, who started Italy’s Euro 2012 qualifier in Estonia this week.
However, a suitable candidate is also Benzema, who has failed to settle at Real Madrid and is not part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
There is also an option in England with Tottenham star Defoe fresh from his hat-trick against Bulgaria.
There are reports that Marotta could be eyeing a young striker who can grow and improve with the side.
River Plate’s 19-year-old Gabriel Funes Mori is valued at around €10m, while Belgian giant Lukaku is the new hot favourite.
Lukaku already played in the Europa League with Anderlecht last term and will be in the Champions League, while he is a senior Belgian international at the age of 17.
Top scorer in the Belgian League last season, he is also of interest to Inter and Chelsea
